Marie Brophy Kennedy died of natural causes in the Harrogate Health Care Center on July 26, 2012 at the age of 96. Marie was born and raised in Harrison, NJ and taught 6th and 7th grades there for 34 years. She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy in Newark and NJ State Teachers College in Newark (now Kean University). She was a resident of Harrogate, Lakewood, NJ for the past 20 years, where she was active with the catholic community. Her husband of 56 years, Hugh Kennedy, died in 1999. They did not have any children. Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
