Marion Fossum

Marion Fossum, age 86, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Marion was born May 17, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, and she was the daughter of the late Hedvig and Arthur Tonnesen. After being raised and living in Brooklyn for most of her life, Marion moved to Lakewood in 1997. Marion was a retired executive assistant with the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service in New York, NY. She was an avid reader and member of local book clubs. Marion enjoyed classical music. She was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lakewood. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert H. Fossum; two sons, Arthur Fossum and Carl R. Fossum and his wife Charlene; four grandchildren, Caleb, Peter, Nissa, and Emma Fossum; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. A prayer service will be offered at 3:45 p.m. to conclude the visiting hours at the funeral home. Cremation will be private at a later date. My condolences to the family. Marion was a very kind God filled woman. I can still hear her saying to me, Jean, I can see you are going through something. I just want you to know I'm praying for you. She didn't ask what it was, she just wanted me to know she would pray. That was over 30 years ago, and I remember it like yesterday.
