Martin "Jeff" Wetzel

Martin Jeffrey Wetzel, age 69, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 7, 1952 in Rome, NY as the son of the late Martin and Elsie June Wetzel. Jeff was a resident of Neptune City, NJ for many years. He graduated from the public school system there, and lived there until relocating to Toms River 10 years ago. He was a proud member of the N.R.A. Jeff enjoyed skeet shooting, and spending time with target practice at local ranges with his rifle. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, and enjoyed riding with his friends. Jeff had a career as a Boiler Technician with several institutions in Monmouth County prior to retiring from the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department.

Jeff is survived by his son, Eric J. Wetzel; a sister, Melinda Deuchar; 2 step-sons, Ryan and Sean Thompson; his former wife and dear friend, Gail Wetzel; and several other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701 on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Private graveside services will be conducted for his immediate family in the Wall Church Cemetery, Spring Lake Heights, NJ.
