

Maxwell "Max" Spyer, age 89, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home. Max was born October 1, 1932 in the Bronx, NY as the son of Hilda (Gusofsky) and Samuel Spyer. After being raised in the Bronx, Max came to Irvington, NJ as a teenager. He was a longtime resident of Edison, NJ before relocating to Toms River 23 years ago. He was the former proprietor of Sewcraft Inc. in Hoboken and Jersey City, NJ. Max was a gifted musician, pianist and vocalist. During his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking. Father of the late Deborah Spyer, and brother of the late Gerald Spyer and Pearla Galek, Max is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Lucy (Castro) Spyer; his children, Michael Spyer and his wife Sally, L. Susan Morrow and her husband Glenn, and H. Julian Spyer and his wife Claire; four grandchildren, Ross, Carter, Matthew, and Dylan; and one great grandchild, Maverick Maxwell. Graveside funeral services will be conducted privately in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Iselin, NJ,
