

Michael was born in the Bronx in 1938 where he resided until he graduated from NYU with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he moved to Belmar to work at Fort Monmouth. In 1964 he married Joyce Cassidy and moved to Toms River where they raised their two children, Gina and Peter. He earned his Master’s Degree from Rutgers University in 1968. After 28 years he retired from the Federal Government; he then worked for Georgia Tech in Tinton Falls until 2000 when he fully retired. In 2006 Michael and Joyce moved to Lakewood NJ. While working at Fort Monmouth Michael became a leading expert in the development of RADAR systems for the Armed Forces presenting papers before NATO. While in Toms River he loved maintaining his yard and gardens and updating and remodeling his home. After retirement he was able to further enjoy his wood working and Lionel train hobby with his grandson, Ross; and attend Vintage Car Shows with his 1957 T-bird. He was known for his witty personality and his love of the NY Yankees. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Fanny; a sister, Dorothy Fanuele; and his son, Peter Fanuele.
Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce; his daughter, Gina; daughter-in-law, Lori; his grandson, Ross; and brother, Victor; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Luke RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River. A private interment will follow.
