Michael "Uncle Mike" Knapik

Michael Knapik, 94, passed away November 5, 2018 at his home in Lakewood, NJ. Mr. Knapik was born and raised in Newark and spent most of his life in Garfield, NJ be for settling in Lakewood, NJ. He served in the US Army during World War II, during his service he was awarded the purple heart. Michael worked for many years for the Okanite Paper Mill in Passaic, NJ. He was an avid NY sports fan, vintage movie buff and loved to do woodworking. He was a loving uncle and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Knapik is predeceased by his wife Evelyn and three siblings. Michael is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of the D’Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Michael’s memory to the wounded warrior project.

I think of Uncle Mike every time I use the ladder he gave to me. I also remember the time he took me fishing in the Passaic River! Good memories! Good man!!
