During his career he held positions of increasing responsibility in the field of enterprise network technology, and computer and network security. Mike had a very interesting career in Technology, but his greatest love was getting to teach chess when he retired. He stated the Monmouth Chess School and Club more than 12 years ago, and moved to Zoom classes and tournaments during COVID years. His great pride was being called Dr. K by his students, and watching them excel in USCF tournaments and in life. He derived much joy from teaching chess and playing in tournaments with his students. Chess was his great love, and being able to share his knowledge was intrinsic to his nature. He believed chess can teach you much about how to think clearly, analyze, and strategize to make the best decisions
