Paul John Schmidt, 93, passed away December 9, 2011 at his home in Lakewood, NJ. He was born in the Bronx, NY; he lived in Dumont and Sparta for many years before settling in Lakewood for the past 8 years. Mr. Schmidt owned and operated the Sussex Tank Company in Lafyette, NJ for many years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Schmidt is predeceased by his wife Hertha in 2004. Paul is survived by his three sons, Kenneth of Charleston, WV, John of Vernon, NJ, and Donald of Lavallette, NJ, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Friends may call Monday, December 12, 2011 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the D’Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11am at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
