He was born on January 29, 1933 in Arecebo, Puerto Rico and lived in Jackson for many years. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Pedro had worked for 37 years as a cabinet painter and installer for Best Wood Products and Level Line in Lakewood. He was an avid Mets fan.

He is survived by 11 children; Cindy Ponce, Sandra S. Moore, Evelyn Costales, Ileana Ponce, Julio Ponce, Pedro Ponce, Raymond Ponce, Freddy Ponce, Dennis Ponce, Roberto Santiago, and Jimmy Ponce, and one step-son, Victor Ponce; his former wife and mother to his children Rosa Ponce; and a sister, Juana Santiago Ponce.
