Peggy was born on January 10, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Shaler High School in Glenshaw PA in 1958 and then in 1962 from St. Margaret School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She was predeceased by her parents John and Leslie Ross: an infant daughter, Kelly, and a beloved cousin, Jay Phillips who lived in Allison Park, PA. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Dennis; cherished children: sons Ross (former wife Kate) and Dan (and wife Meredith), and daughter Linda Kasun Lewis; adored grandchildren: Jillian (husband Kyle), Shannon, John, Anna, and Michael; cousins Tim Phillips (and wife Audrey) and Cheryl Phillips; sister-in-law Bonnie Marcuson (and husband Neil). Peggy and Dennis were married in Pittsburgh in 1963 but moved immediately to King of Prussia, PA where they lived until moving to Middletown, NJ in 1970. There they raised their children in a neighborhood of peers, the Marlpit gang, who became lifelong friends. She and Dennis moved to the Fairways at Lake Ridge, Lakewood in 2002. There she participated in the active adult lifestyle, playing golf at Eagle Ridge Golf Club with a fun group of gals, played Dominoes with them on Friday afternoons, and joined their husbands for dinner at local restaurants Friday evenings. Peggy aspired to be a nurse since childhood and completing nursing school to become a Registered Nurse was one of her most proud accomplishments. She went on to practice nursing for over 55 years, serving communities through Pennsylvania and New Jersey – including providing care at multiple nursing homes and supporting patients through the Visiting Nurse Association of NJ. She finished her career caring for children as a substitute school nurse for Ocean County Vocational and Technical School. She spent her lifetime nursing and caring for others, which will be one of her greatest legacies. Peggy adored all of her, and her children’s, pets and was a nature lover, in general. She loved the beach and being by the ocean, as well as living in the mountains – spending much of her time at their home in the Adirondacks enjoying the wilderness and spending time with the good friends there. She also appreciated a good football game and could be found rooting for her favorite teams (Notre Dame and the Steelers) every season. Most of all, Peggy loved her family. She was the matriarch who kept the family traditions – hosting many holidays and gatherings, always cooking and caring for everyone, and her chocolate chip cookies will be fondly remembered by all. Peggy’s greatest source of pride and joy came from her children and grandchildren, and she cherished spending time with them, being a wonderful, caring mother and grandmother.
