I remember the family reunion we had together on Lake Cumberland in KY. Everyone had the time of their lives it wasn't very wheelchair friendly getting her on and of the house boat but we all made do. Uncle Jose wants to have a family reunion in San Juan some day i hope we can all get together to play dominoes.  I love u all and pray for everyone Christopher Patty's son

Un abrazo con mucha fuerza en estos momentos para toda la familia. Doña Petra fue una mujer admirable que crió a sus hijos y posteriormente a sus nietos con todo el amor y dedicación del mundo. 
Mi madre Tita Garcia la recuerda como una guerrera que luchó incansablemente para sacar a sus hijos hacia adelante sin importarle los sacrificios y necesidades que pasara hasta logralo. Siempre nos hemos considerado una sola familia y compartimos el dolor que los agobia en estos momentos. El dolor de ustedes tambien es nuestro.

Grandma,
    It is rumored that the Eskimos put their elders as they were going to die in a canoe, and sent them out to sea on a long journey from which they would not return. Today I feel like this, like an Eskimo. My cold spirit, my frozen heart, and you in the canoe. They already launched you, and there is no return. Only the horizon will be the view from your window, and the waves the music that whispers to you until, with little effort, you decide that it is your time and sleep once more, once finally.
    We will miss you and even more with this sad ending. You did have to die of something, but without one of yours at your side it will hurt us more. I would like to think that this is better so as not to see the seriousness of death painted on your cheeks, and the darkness extinguish your eyes. 
    But I know I would have preferred to feel your body, although cold, one more time. But I settle for the last goodbye and hug that we gave each other already months ago. I am satisfied with the memory of your surprise to see your great-great-granddaughter. I will settle for the echo of the last words I heard from you just three days ago, "I want to go out to party."

   Se rumora que los esquimales ponían a sus ancianos ya que iban a morir en una canoa, y los enviaban hacia el mar a un largo viaje del que no regresarían. Hoy así me siento, como un esquimalito. Mi ánimo frio, mi corazón helado, y tú en la canoa. Ya te lanzaron, y retorno no lo hay. 
    Solo el horizonte será la vista de tu ventana, y las olas la música que te susurrara hasta que, con poco esfuerzo, decidas que es tu hora y duermas una vez más, una vez finalmente.
    Te extrañaremos y mas aun en este triste final. De algo tendrías que morir, pero sin alguien tuyo a tu lado más nos dolerá. Quisiera pensar que así es mejor para no ver la seriedad de la muerte pintada en tus mejillas, y la obscuridad apagar tus ojos. Pero se que hubiese preferido sentir tu cuerpo, aunque frio, una ves más. 
    Pero me conformo con el ultimo adiós y abrazo que nos dimos ya hace meces. Me conformo con el recuerdo de tu sorpresa al ver a tu tataranieta. Me conformare con el eco de las ultimas palabras que escuche de ti tan solo hace tres días, “quiero salir a rumbear.”
