Ramon "Pit Bull Ray" Martinez

Mr. Ramon Martinez, age 72, of Lakewood NJ, passed away unexpectedly at Jersey Shore Medical Center on Friday May 5th, 2023. Ramon was born on June 8th, 1950, in Manhattan, NY to his loving parents Delia and Ramon Sr. He spent his youth and young adult years in Spanish Harlem. He later moved to NJ with his family close to the shore. Ray worked in Robotic Machinery. Being a Renaissance man, he could fix and build anything he put his mind to (and this was before the internet). His real passion was his love for pit bulls. That was how he received his nickname “Pit Bull Ray”. He also loved fishing, hunting and collecting guns. Ray had a love for adventure and made all our outings memorable and teaching moments. Ray’s greatest joy in life was raising his children. He instilled the values of hard work, education and faith. He had a huge heart and touched the lives of all he encountered. He was generous and charismatic and truly one of a kind. Ramon was survived by his wife Johanny Martinez; his 6 daughters Michelle De La Isla; Vanessa Martoni (husband Will Martoni); Adina Martinez- Griffitts (Husband Peter Griffitts), Celia Elbert (husband Scott Elbert), Delia Martinez and Elena Martinez. His late son Raymond Martinez III, and 14 grandchildren. He’s also survived by his mother Delia Ramos and sister Doris Munoz amongst many other loved relatives and friends in the community. El Sr. Ramón Martínez, de 72 años, de Lakewood NJ, falleció inesperadamente en el Jersey Shore Medical Center el viernes 5 de mayo de 2023. Ramón nació el 8 de junio de 1950 en Manhattan, NY de sus amados padres Delia y Ramón Sr. Él pasó su juventud y su juventud en Spanish Harlem. Más tarde se mudó a NJ con su familia cerca de la costa. Ray trabajó en Maquinaria Robótica. Al ser un hombre del Renacimiento, podía arreglar y construir todo lo que se proponía (y esto fue antes de Internet). A Ramón le sobreviven su esposa Johanny Martinez; sus 6 hijas Michelle De La Isla; Vanessa Martoni (esposo Will Martoni); Adina Martinez- Griffitts (esposo Peter Griffitts), Celia Elbert (esposo Scott Elbert), Delia Martinez y Elena Martinez. Su difunto hijo Raymond Martinez III y 14 nietos. También le sobreviven su madre Delia Ramos y su hermana Doris Muñoz, entre muchos otros parientes queridos y amigos en la comunidad.
