Richard W. Poe

Richard W. Poe, age 83, of the Original Leisure Village section of Lakewood, NJ, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. Mr. Poe was born in Cleveland, OH on June 4, 1928, and was the son of the late Julia (Spacek) and John Povejil. He moved to Lakewood 17 years ago after previously residing in Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL, Edina MN and Huntington, NY. He was a winter resident of Stuart, FL. Mr. Poe was a former attorney and corporate secretary for Slattery Associates, Inc. Construction Company in Whitestone, NY. He was a member of the New York and Ohio State Bar Associations. Richard was also a member of Mensa International High IQ Society. Mr. Poe is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 38 years, Carol Ann (Grady) Poe; a daughter, Wendy Poe-Calvin; a step-daughter, Mary E. Philipps; and 4 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kevin, Ryan and Bridget. His final arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Richard W. Poe to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 Southeast Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
