Robert Louis Shepard

Robert was born in Paterson, NJ to his late parents; Jack and Mary Shepard.

Robert was a proud Army Veteran, he served his country by enlisting in 1969 during the Vietnam War and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart throughout his years of service.

Robert's greatest accomplishment was his career continuing his father's business by running Shepard Commercial Radio Inc for 40 years before retiring.

After retiring Robert found joy in his many hobbies which included; fishing, boating and all things trains. One of his favorite things to do was traveling all over the country to see different trains. He also was a member of the Point Pleasant Fishing Club, Manasquan Fishing club and The Railrats.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Joan, his dear children; Susan Shepard & Michael Shepard and his grandson; John Robert Pilaar. He is also survived by his brothers; David Shepard and William Shepard. He was well taken care of the last 4 years by Angela Harris at the Concord Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial gathering for Robert will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
