

Robert F. Westphal, 92, of Lakewood, NJ, beloved husband of Edith (Terhune) Westphal for 67 years, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015 surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved. He was predeceased by his sister Jeanette Glibert, as well as his parents Herman and Mabel Westphal. Besides his wife Edith, Robert is survived by his son Robert S. Westphal and his wife Martha of Marlboro and his two daughters Susan Nordyk and Lorraine Stone of Howell. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jennifer, Robert, Kaylee, Krista, Heather and Autumn; and great grandchildren Gianna, Ethan and Rielle. Robert was born in Jersey City. He served in the 89th Infantry division during World War II as a First Sergeant and participated in the Rhine Crossing, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked for Bendix as a contract administrator for 32 years and spent his retirement years traveling the globe with his wife. Robert’s sense of humor is fondly remembered by his children and endeared him to all. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
