
Shirley A. Liles, age 68, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 13. 2017 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on August 5, 1948 in Plainfield, NJ, and she was the daughter of the late Gladys (Kriedler) and Fredrick Jenkins. After being raised in Bound Brook, NJ, Shirley had a transient life as a commercial truck driver that took her across the country. She was a resident of Toms River for the last 13 years. Shirley was a nurse and retired from the Somerset County Jail. She was an EMT in Middlesex County and was a volunteer for the Middlesex First Aid Squad. Shirley wrote poetry, and she was a craft and knitting enthusiast. Sister of the late Jeribeth and William Jenkins; she is survived by her four children, Ronald Colangelo and his wife Elizabeth, Stuart Colangelo and his wife Melissa, Kathryn Colangelo and Jeffrey Colangelo; 4 sisters, Mary Falvo and her husband Robert, Virginia Potts, Ruth Levine and her husband Herb, and Helen Welsh and her husband Thomas; 3 grandchildren, Karla, Cassondra, and Stuart; and several nieces and nephews. Shirley's life will be celebrated with a memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 3091 Bordentown Avenue, Parlin, NJ 08859. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 in the Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 Route 27 Lincoln Hwy., North Brunswick, NJ 08902. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a veteran themed charity of the donor's choice.
