Tim joined the Jersey City Police Department in 1971, earning the rank of Detective. He retired in 1994, gaining many lifelong friends. He continued to be active running the annual Christmas party for Jersey City retired police officers.
Tim has had an impact on the lives of many people from his beloved Jersey City. In 1965, he began coaching Pop Warner football bringing fun, discipline, a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship to the youth in the community. He formed and served as Executive Director to the Jersey City Police Activity League and the New Jersey Police Athletic League. These programs provided young people with many opportunities they might not have had otherwise. Tim ran cultural trips, baseball, softball, basketball, football, cheer, karate and boxing programs. One of Tim's favorite programs was the Police Explorers. This program helped guide participants in training to become police officers. While he was proud of all of his explorers, he was most proud of the current Jersey City Deputy Chief of Police Daniel Sollitti. Tim also established a Police Explorer Academy that ran every summer at Fort Monmouth. Explorers from all of the state would compete in academic and physical training during the week long program.
Tim was an active member of the Democratic Party and the American Legion. Throughout his life he had several passions; the NY Giants, his Irish heritage, racing cars, riding his Harley, Corvettes, horses, setting a beautiful table and going to Cancun with friends among them. His most notable passion, however, was HOTDOGS! He was a connoisseur. Thumann's with mustard and onions was one of his favorites. A story that always amused our family was that prior to the wedding reception, he took the bridal party to George's hotdog cart located near Pershing field.
Tim touched the hearts of many people. He will be remembered for his big heart, kindness and love of his community.
