Trent W. Abel, age 41, of Point Pleasant Boro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at his residence. Born in Greenfield, MA, he resided in the Toms River and Lakewood, NJ areas for 36 years before moving to Point Pleasant 3 years ago. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran of the Gulf War. After graduating from Lakewood High School, Trent received his Bachelor of Arts from Georgian Court University. He was a retired Special Education Teacher for the Jackson Township Public School System, having served the district for over 11 years. Trent was the former owner and operator of Trent’s Mobile Detailing. He is survived by his parents Gene and Carol Abel; 2 sons, Jason and Matthew Abel; a brother, Todd Abel and his wife Tina ; a sister, Tara Olivia and her husband Michael; 2 nieces, Martina and Siena; 2 nephews, Michael and Jordan, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Rte. 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. A private interment will take place at a later date in the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abel Children's Trust, 12 Hill Ridge Place, Lakewood, NJ 08701. For further information or to post a tribute online, please visit

Trent your birthday is in two days and already I remember April 25 as a wonderful day for me and Dad. We miss your smile and your laughter, You had a sense of humor that brought us many laughs. Your life was so short and yet you made a difference in so many peoples lives, Our lives would not have been the same without you. Love you son and miss you terribly. I want to start by saying Mr.Able was one of the best teachers iv ever had, He helped me and made sure i passed my classes because he saw i was a hard worker even though i was the girl always getting introuble. My Thoughts & Prayers go out to the family, you have a wonder wife and two wonderful boys. i remeber when ur wife use to come to class with the kids and they just where so cute. rest easy Mr.Able i will miss you.

I had Mr. Abel as a teachers aid in one of my classes in Goetz when I was younger, he was truly an amazing person. I was in a phase of wearing punk rock clothes and combat boots at the time he pulled me aside one day and gave me his old boots from the marines and still have them. You will truly be missed mr Abel
