August 22, 2023, Virginia “Ginger” Menar, 77, of Toms River NJ, passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband Alex at her side. Ginger was a loving, caring family member and friend to many. Ginger enjoyed life to the fullest even while enduring half of her life battling Multiple Sclerosis. Her ability to face adversity with grace and a smile was admired by all. Her love of the great outdoors and wonders of nature was passed down from her father which she passed down to her family. She loved to travel the world to experience many of God’s gifts no matter if it was camping in the US National Parks across the country with her children, treasuring a beautiful Maui sunset with friends or cruising throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and Caribbean with her husband of 57 years. Her most special travels were visiting her grandchildren and spending precious time with them.
Her love of nature was only second to her unconditional love for all human beings. It was only fitting she chose the nursing profession as her career. Her compassion and kindness led to deep connections with her patients of which some became lifelong friends. The tables were turned in her later years as she became the patient and was cared for by so many incredible nurses and aids. What didn’t change was the deep connection she made with each one of them.
Ginger’s joy of life extended to all forms of art and recreation as evident in her membership and participation in so many clubs and organizations. Starting in her early years as a cheer leader, President of the Beau and Belle Brummels, Vice President Student Council, Girl Scouts, synchronized swimmer, Red Cross and voted by her high school classmates as Student Who Did Most For the School, along as in her later years as member of Middletown NJ Garden Club , Girl Scouts Troop Leader, Jacki Sorensen Aerobics Instructor, and Lake Ridge Chorus, Women’s Club, Mahjong Club, Wine Club and Italian Club member.
Ginger was predeceased by father Frank Bellotti, mother Shirley Bellotti, father in-law George Menar Sr, mother in-law Olga Menar and brother in-laws Fred Russo and George Menar Jr. She is survived by husband Alex Menar, daughter Lorraine Cox and fiancé Christian Dickinson, son Bryan Menar and wife Erica Menar, 6 lovely grandchildren, Kyle Cox, Sophia Menar, Michael Menar, Thomas Menar, Nicholas Menar and Maria Menar, sister Jean Russo, sister in-law Alma Bisci (Fred) and brother in-law Ralph Menar (Maria), and many nieces and nephews.
