Walter Wally Michael Powers

Walter M. “Wally” Powers, 79, of Lakewood, NJ passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his residence. He was born on May 2, 1934 in New York, NY and was the son of the late Mary and Walter Powers. Wally was retired from the City of New York, having served as a master plumber and as supervisor to plumbers, electricians, and carpenters. Wally served in the US Army.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Jane; 2 stepchildren, Stephen Chiarello and Lynne Chiarello and her husband Jim; a grandchild, Alyssa; 3 sisters Nora Camizzi, Margaret Wozny, Eileen Powers; brothers, James Powers and Patrick Powers and his wife Cheryl; and a sister-in-law, Cathy Powers. He was predeceased by his brothers, William Powers and Johnny Powers; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vincent Camizzi, Ted Wozny, and Betsy Powers.

Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the D’Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
