William J. Taggart, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021 in Deland, FL. Born in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late George and Margaret (Henry) Taggart, he was raised in Kearny NJ. He proudly served as a marine in the US Marine Corp at Camp Lejeune. He retired as a patrolman with Lakewood Police Department after thirty two years of dedicated service. William also known as “Bill” was proud to have earned his degree from Ocean County College. While residing in Lakewood and Manchester, NJ, he was a communicant and usher of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Manchester, NJ. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially attending sporting events as a devoted fan of the NY Giants, NJ Devils and NJ Blue Claws. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his half-brother, Eugene Taggart. Bill leaves behind his loving children, Deborah and her husband Richard Garone of Delaware, William and his wife Paula Taggart of South Amboy, NJ, Stephen and his wife Cheryl Taggart of Deland, FL and LoriAnn Gibson and Rich Menzel of Brick, NJ; dear sister Ruth Oehm and her husband Ray of Oceanside, CA, brother, George Taggart and his wife Eleanor of Ship Bottom, NJ, and Donald Taggart of Kearny, NJ. He will be deeply missed by his ten adored grandchildren, Samantha, Benjamin, Jacqueline, Cassandra, Christopher, Rebecca, Nicole, Stephen, Jr., Tristan and Laissa, precious great granddaughters, Clare and Madison; and by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of the D'Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9am to 11am at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 11am at the funeral home. Cremation will be held privately.
