Bill was born in 1946, in Patterson, NJ, the second of three children of Bill and Margery Pross Warne. He was a lifelong resident of New Jersey and an alumnus of Hawthorne High School (1964) and Fairleigh Dickinson University (BS 1968 and MS 1971 in Electronics Engineering). Bill dedicated his career to civil service, working for the National Security Agency and Department of Defense, retiring as a Division Chief at Communication and Electronics Command (CECOM) at Fort Monmouth.
Since retiring, Bill embraced the ‘snow bird’ life, splitting his time between New Jersey and Leesburg, Florida. He was an avid fan of opera, college football, science fiction, and shopping. In his retirement, Bill developed a passion for travel and spent time with his family in the UK, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and the Netherlands.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Warne, daughter Kelly Al-Dakkak, son Kevin Warne, son-in-law Imad Al-Dakkak, daughter-in-law Mia Travlos, brother Larry Warne, and sister Patricia Loesh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill Warne and Margery Pross Warne.
A memorial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31, in Buckingham Hall, Leisure Village, Lakewood, NJ 08701. All are welcome. Contributions in memory of Bill can be made to Heifer International (http://fundraise.heifer.org/williamwarne), a charity that he regarded with enthusiasm and that, like Bill, works to leave a tangible positive impact on the world.
A loving husband, father, brother, and friend, his memory is celebrated by all those who knew him. In death, the finite conquers the infinite. Bill is free now, and those he leaves behind remember his life and laughter with joy and love.
