To the Porter Family
I enjoyed looking at the video of photos. I never had Mrs. Porter as a teacher in the school district. I remember her from Bell Zion. I stumbled upon her transition notice on social media. She was serious sweetheart of a person. I recall her Sunday School lesson reviews. She along with others devout Saints of Bell Zion had a major impact on my study of God's Word.
Family Take Care, your loved one lived a fruitful life.

Stay Encouraged

Take your rest Sister Porter, I will see you in the morning on the other side.

Sorry for the grammatical error; should read "an integrated school system. " If Mrs. Porter wasn't a reading teacher, I would have never changed it!! LOL

I would tell young people that back during the days of segregated schools, contrary to popular belief, we got an excellent education and were more than prepared to meet the challenges of and integrated school system. Then, I would tell them about the teachers we had, like Mrs. Porter. She was more than our teacher! She pushed us to be better than our best. And if discipline was needed, she readily applied it. We didn't need armed police officers in school as long as Mrs. Porter was around. May God rest the soul of this Phenomenal Woman. So many of us are standing on her shoulders today.. I met Mrs. Porter my 2nd year of teaching. She was such an admired and well-respected teacher. Mrs. Porter taught for over 35 years and was an exceptional reading teacher and mentor to many inexperienced teachers. She had a great sense of humor and her students loved her dearly. I learned a lot from Mrs. Porter and have many fond memories.
Maxine, hold on to your memories and let them guide you during this time of sadness. As you mourn, know that others mourn with you. Wishing you, Teresa and Leticia strength and peace.

To the family of my friend Andrew Marie Porter:
Maxine Wyche, Teresa and Tory Tate, Leticia, Carlicia and Carl Ward and Great Great Granddaughter Aliyah.
When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Hold on to your memories and let them guide you during this time of sadness. We here at The Mildred House have many many years of memories with Mrs. Porter. She enjoyed special occasions and especially her birthday. On May 17, 2020 she celebrated her 96th birthday and we made it special just for her. She made sure everyone had enough cake and ice cream and plenty of food to eat. She LOVED cake and ice cream. During her last birthday lunch she talked about the memories of her wonderful trip to Europe in 1971. She had many fun memories to share. Now, family take comfort in all your memories and hold on to them. My friend Mrs. Porter will be greatly missed here at The Mildred House.
May God continue to comfort you.
