

Remembering Bernadine LeMelle Perry “MumMum” On July 2, 1936 she was born in New Iberia, LA to the late Mr. Eloi and Therese F. LeMelle. She was also known as “Mum-Mum”. Bernadine accepted Christ at an early age and devoted her time as a member of Queen of Peach Catholic Church. She was a health care provider for over 40 years and belonged to numerous organizations within the community. She had a caring heart and a sparkly personality that intrigued everyone around her. She became a resident of Texas City, TX for 46 years after her husband Fred retired from the U.S. Army and made their home to be near his brother George (Katie) Stokes. Bernadine, at the age of 82 answered the call of her Heavenly Father at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, Fred D. Perry Sr., several siblings, her granddaughter, Kalie Perry, her daughter-in-law, Anna Perry and her sons-in-law, C.L. Williams Jr. and Howard Stanley. She leaves behind her children, Lucille McGaskey, Emma Stanley, Freda Bell (Reginald), Fred Perry Jr., Jo Ann Williams (Ora Lee), James Perry Sr. (Naomi); brothers, Tilden J. Le Melle (Margret), John J. LeMelle; sister-in-law, Yvonne T. LeMelle; two grandchildren she raised, Maurice A. Perry and Kyna D. Perry; a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews she loved dearly; sister-friend, Mrs. Adline H. Smith; very special daughter niece, Pauline August; devoted military wife friend, Mrs. Rean Ozan and her neighborhood and community friends.
