

Commemorating the Life of Our Beloved Patriarch Carnell Nealy, Sr. "Preacher" Carnell Nealy Sr., a native resident of Midway, TX was born January 24, 1928 to Elijah and Bessie Nealy. He is the fraternal twin of the late Darnell Nealy and the youngest of 7 children. He attended Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, TX before serving in the military during the Korean conflict for 2 years. He resided in Texas City, working at Monsanto Chemical Co. until retirement. He enjoyed his marriage of 59 years to Melvin Jelean Nealy. They thoroughly enjoyed working side by side serving the LORD and HIS people. To their union, the Nealys were blessed with three dedicated sons and one awesome daughter: Carnell Jr., Vickie Rene', Charles Earl, and Otis Elijah. Being nicknamed "Preacher" as a child, Carnell fulfilled the calling by serving as a minister, preacher, and elder for a number of congregations in Texas. Carnell last served as one of the elders of the Church of Christ at Westward Street, teaching and overseeing the congregation. He also had a melodious voice and sang praises to God whenever he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Bessie Wheaton Nealy; his step-mother, Callie E. Nealy; siblings, Darnell Nealy, Eurie Nealy, Lou Ella Nealy, Frankie Mae Childress, and Fronce L. Nealy. Those cherishing his memory and continuing his legacy include: his devoted wife, Melvin Jelean Nealy; children, Carnell Jr. (Olivett), Vickie, Charles (Deandra), and Otis (Karen); and a sister, Marcella Winters. He has been blessed with the love of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless faithful friends.
