

February 4, 1974 in Houston, Texas marked the birth of a beautiful daughter who grew up as a mentor and teacher. Cynthia Paulette Winn was born to Sidney and Linda Winn. She was raised in a Christian home. Her early spiritual journey was nourished and she united with Progressive Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend Marvin C. Bridges. She was a member of the Drill Team under the leadership of the late Sis. Laura Stevenson, Vacation Bible School, Youth In Action and Sunday School. Cynthia was educated in the La Marque Independent School District. She was a proud 1992 graduate of La Marque High School where she was a member and Colonel of the award-winning and high kicking Mam'Selles Drill Team under the direction of the late Mrs. Barbara Jean Crow and Peer Assistance Leadership Group, better known as PALS. She attended College of the Mainland for 2 years and later enlisted in the Military (Army Branch). After finishing her time in the Army, she enrolled in Benedict College of Columbia, South Carolina where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and later received her Master of Education in Divergent Learning from Columbia College of Columbia, South Carolina. She was employed at Mill Creek Elementary School in Columbia, South Carolina under the leadership of Dr. Charles Delaughter where she was a third grade teacher as well as the University of South Carolina of Columbia. She loved her job, her children she taught, and especially her co-workers. Cynthia was a member of Refuge Temple of Columbia, South Carolina under the leadership of Bishop Sylvester Reid where she enjoyed serving the Lord. On October 17, 2015, Cynthia's work on earth was done and she went to be with the Lord and Savior. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mrs. Lois Jackson of Tyler, Texas, Mrs. Margaret Vallie of Houston, Texas, Frank Dotson Sr. of Tyler, Texas and Zack Winn Sr. of Waco, Texas. Left with so many cherished memories of her life are her beloved parents, Sidney and Linda Winn of Texas City, Texas; her two sons, Kwanja Winn of Texas City, Texas and Kareem Wise of Columbia, South Carolina; her four brothers, Monty and Jason of Houston, Texas and Sidney, Jr. and Zack of Texas City, Texas; her special friend, Steve Wise of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
