Florence Ross - Gordon

The life of Florence (Sissy) Ross Gordon began in Galveston, Texas on November 20, 1947. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Galveston, Texas. The family later moved to LaMarque, Texas where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966. She attended Texas Women's University for two years. Shortly after college she married her high school sweetheart, Alfred "Butch" Gordon. They moved to Houston, Texas where she obtained employment with Harris County Child Welfare as the Legal Secretary for many years. Her employment also included St. Joseph's hospital, Hyatt Regency Business Center and Jacobs Engineering. Sissy devoted most of her adult life in the love and praise of God. She enjoyed movies especially comedies and spending quality time with her family. On August 12, 2014 Sissy departed this earthly life to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Florence Ross; fraternal grandparents, Sampson Ross and Edith Fusilier Ross; maternal grandparents Lawrence and Loretta Davy. She is survived by her ex-husband, Alfred (Butch) Gordon; loving children, Sherla and D'Adrian Gordon; granddaughter, Dione Lewis; step-mother, Celesta Ross; her brother, William Ross; sisters, Phyllis Wade and Theresa Ross; step- sister, Cynthia Bell; brother-in-law, Guy Paul Branch; nephews, Broderick Wade, William Anthony Ross, Corin Guy Branch, nieces, Chianti Bowers, Jozette McKnight, Elizabeth Ross; great nephews, Brandon Wade, Christian Bowers; grand nieces, Tristan Bowers, Jaelin Knapper, Rachel Bowers, Lauren Crowe, Kennedie McKnight; uncles, John Ross and Riley Chavis; aunt, Rita Moss and a host of cousins and friends.
