

On December 15, 1951 in Big Cane, Louisiana a baby boy was born to the late Hamp Chaney, Sr. and Lillie Mae Euell Chaney. Hamp, fondly known as "Ice Water", received his education in Morrow, Louisiana and later moved to Galveston, Texas where he was a 1969 graduate of Ball High School. Later he enlisted in the United States Army and served his tour of duty until his honorable discharge. He also attended Barbuzon School of Modeling. Hamp worked as a driver for Yellow Cab of Houston for 15 years. He later worked shutdowns in the Chemical Plants in Texas City, Texas until his health failed. Ice Water's favorite hobbies were Trail Riding with M & D Trail Riders; playing chess, shooting pool and pulling those one armed bandits. On Friday, February 13, 2015, Hamp departed this life to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his father, Hamp Chaney Sr.; mother, Lillie Mae Woodworth; step-father, Eddie Woodworth; sister, Pearline Chaney; and brother, David "Bodyguard" Rice. Left to cherish memories of his life are his devoted wife, Carol "CC" Lewis; his children, Keith White (Karla), Ken Bates, and LaTresha Belson; step-children, Tammy Cauley (Willis), Yvette Stewart and Rhonda Peterson; sisters, Irma Francois-Chaney, Augustine Chaney, Joyce Chaney and Ollie Ruth Wright (Louis); brother, Leroy Chaney; extended family, The Woodworth Family; brother-in-law, Leavy Campbell; sister-in-law, Linda Campbell; uncles, L. B. "Mookie" Euell (Estella), Lester Harris, Tom Chaney (Mary); aunts, Bertha "Tit" Gaines, Alice Mae "Moe" Chaney, Ellen Pitre (Arvenal); 20 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends who will greatly miss his earthly presence.
