John H Reed Sr.

On May 12, 2016, I, John H. Reed, Sr. departed this earthly life to be with the Lord. I was born July 16, 1923 in Epps, Louisiana to Hirma Reed and Mittie Hampton Reed. I was a resident of Epps, LA for 29 years and later I came to Texas City. I was united in marriage to the late Ester B. Jolly Reed and to this union, four children were born. I was baptized by my daughter Pastor Patricia Reed Woodkins at  Imagine Apostolic Doctrine Church. I was employed for 36 years at Monsanto, where I retired in 1986. I am  preceded in death by my parents, Hirma & Mittie Reed; my two sisters, Sweetie Mae Glosser and Cleo Hill; my daughter, Bettie J. Reed Bennett; my grandson, Greg Gibson and my devoted wife of 67 years, Ester B. Jolly Reed, who were all awaiting my arrival. I leave my most cherish memories in the hearts of my daughters, Odesser Gibson (Elmer) of Pioneer, Louisiana, Debra Reed Campbell (James), Patricia Reed Woodkins (Robert) both of Texas City, Texas; my son  John “John Boy” Reed of Texas City, Texas; my grandchildren, Reggie Gibson, Stacy Elders, Karen Austin; my  7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
