On a beautiful winter day, December 30, 1982, God blessed the union of Jullian Byrd and Gwenlyn Alcorn Byrd with a beautiful blessing. They named their daughter, Kimberly Michelle Byrd. Kimberly was educated in the public schools of La Marque, Texas and was a 2001 graduate of La Marque High School. After graduation, Kim attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. At an early Kimberly was Christened at McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert Jackson. Later she followed her mother to Galilee Baptist Church in Hitchcock where she accepted Christ and was baptized by Pastor B. J. Hunter. Kim often fellowshipped with various churches in the community where her mother served as musician. God blessed Kim not only to be a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend, but He blessed her to be a mother to the love and joy of her life, Kennedie Nevaeh-Joy Byrd. Continuing her walk with the Lord she united with Willing Workers Baptist Church in Texas City under the pastoral leadership of Pastor James C. Carrington Jr. Kimberly was a person who loved life and lived it to its fullest. She was employed with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and had worked in Houston, Dickinson and presently, the Texas City Office. She was also a member of the TDHH Union. Kim always had a smile on her face and brought joy to those around her. On the evening of February 3, 2016, Kimberly departed this life to be with the Lord. Awaiting her heavenly arrival were her father, Jullian Byrd; and her grandparents, Otis and Lois Alcorn. Left to cherish memories of her life are her beloved daughter, Kennedie Nevaeh-Joy Byrd; her devoted mother and step-father, Gwen Byrd Gilmore and Arthur Gilmore; her brother, Leslie Byrd; her step-sister, Katura Gilmore; her grandmother, Hortense Johnson; aunts and uncles, Hulene Perkins (Rogers), Debra Guidry (Robert), Otis Alcorn Jr., Larry Alcorn (Loutra) and Louis Alcorn (Rhonda); favorite and beloved cousins, Ashley, Tracie, Lady, Diane, Deborah, David, Brandie and Jason; and a host of cousins, co-workers, classmates, family members and friends.
