

On February 4, 1927 on LaTulle Farm in Blessing, Texas, a baby girl blessed the home of William Hayes Sr. and Ida Whitley Hayes. They named their daughter, Lillian. Lillian was educated in the public schools of Bay City, Texas. At an early age, she was baptized at Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City and began her Christian journey. Lillian was united in marriage to Lamar Robbins Sr. and to this union, one son, Lamar Robbins, Jr. was born. They family moved to Galveston for a short period and then made they home in Houston, Texas. Together they were owners of various businesses, with Lillian taking the lead as administrator. Later, she moved back to Galveston County. She then met and married Robert Pruitt. Lillian and her husband were successful entrepreneurs in the Galveston County area. She showed off her cooking and baking talents for the restaurant they owned. Lillian was a longtime member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City under the leadership of Dr. D. N. Benford. In later years, she united with the New Jerusalem Baptist Church Family in Dickinson, Texas under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Roderick Cunningham. Lillian was a resident of Regent Care Center of League City where she was loved by the staff and residents. There was always an excitement in their daily lives. On August 4, 2012, Lillian passed from this earthly life to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Hayes; her husband, Robert Pruitt; her son, Lamar Robbins, Jr.; and her siblings, Mary, Ruth, Helen, Daisy, Rosa Lee, Cleveland, Felton, Isaiah and William, Jr. Left to celebrate joyous memories of her life are her grandchildren, Jamar Robbins, Bryan Robbins, Roslyn Robbins and Tamika Robbins; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Robbins; her sisters, Ida Mildred Middleton and Gladys Austin; her brothers, Willis Hayes and Sherman Hayes; a special goddaughter, Vanessa D'anne Hearne; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.
