

Mrs. Marvis Fransaw was born to the union of Carl Scurlock and Beatrice James Scurlock on January 10, 1922 in Crockett, Texas. Mrs. Fransaw grew up in Croclett, Texas and was a graduate of Crockett Colored High School. She furthered her education by attending and graduating from Mary Allen College (BA); Prairie View A&M University; and Texas Southern University (Masters of Education). She was united in marriage to Theowder Fransaw, Sr. and to this union six children were born. Mrs. Fransaw was an Educator and was employed with La Marque ISD for 33 years; Hitchcock ISD for 5 years and the State of California School System for 10 years. She was a member of Greater Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City. On June 4, 2013, Mrs. Fransaw departed this earthly life to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Beatrice James Scurlock; her husband, Theowder Fransaw, Sr.; son, Samuel Fransaw; and five sisters, Nartha Middleton, Carletna Jessie, Robbie M. FIelds, Annie L. Hubbard and Lois J. Fletcher. Left to cherish memories of her life are her beloved children, Theowder Fransaw, Jr., Edwin R. Fransaw and wife, Theresa, Brenda F. Hendon, Bevlin A. Williams and husband, Gerald and Patti L. Foreman and husband, Scott; two loving sisters, Rose M. Holmes and Leola Hopkins; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
