Mr. Robert N. Payne

Robert Nathaniel Payne, Jr.Robert Nathaniel Payne, Jr., 57, of La Marque Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, Texas. He recently had been hospitalized, but always managed to be full of life, extremely generous and he always kept a smile on his face. Robert was born in Galveston, Texas on July 28, 1959 to Robert, Sr. and Barbara Payne. He graduated from Ball High School, Galveston, Texas, Class of 1978. Proud Ball High Tornado graduate. He was employed with Valero in Texas City, Texas for 33 years.Robert was a faithful and dedicated member of Greater St Matthews, Hitchcock, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor William L Randall, Jr. His ministry of choice was the Greeters Ministry.   Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert Payne, Sr.; his grandparents, Elizabeth Sam, Emily Quinnine and Frank Quinnine; his sister, Kimberly Payne, as well as his in-laws Mamie Lee Devereaux and Charles Devereaux. Robert was married to Tanya Devereaux-Payne on June 4, 1983; they were married for 34 years. To this union two children were born, Robert III (Trey) and Charles (Chaz). He enjoyed golfing, movies, sports, spending time with his family and his favorite trademark, telling jokes. Robert leaves very fond and memorable memories with his wife, Tanya; his two sons, Robert III (Christina) and Charles. His one and only precious grandchild – Spencer, whom he adored; his mother, Barbara Payne; brother, Michael (La Tisha) Payne; sister, Nicole (Marcus) Davis; nieces, Kristin (Larry) Murphy, Kellie Payne, Morgan Payne, Madison Payne and Remi Davis; nephews, Anthony (Jazlyn) Marks, Michael Payne, Marcus Davis and Neco Davis; a host of great-nieces and great nephews. A Service Celebrating Robert's Life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 7:00PM at Greater St Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, Texas, Pastor William L. Randall, Jr. Officiating.
