

Nicholas Gary was born on September 29, 1981 to Debra and Russell Gary in Texas City, TX. Nick was a sweet, friendly, happy baby, and those traits would follow him throughout his entire life.Nick accepted Christ at an early age when he was baptized at New Hope Bible Church under Pastor W. C. Yancy. He was known for both memorizing and delivering long, yet moving Easter and Christmas speeches every year. His sharpness and intelligence helped to ensure that Nick remained on the Honor Roll throughout elementary, middle, and high school. He was educated in La Marque Independent School District, and displayed not only a love for academics, but also a love for sports. He played basketball, baseball, and football, throughout his entire childhood, and even went on to win a State Championship title with La Marque Cougars football team in 1997.Nick graduated at the top of his class in 2000, and he went on to attend both Texas A&M University and The University of Houston. After graduating once again at the top of his P-Tech class, Nick decided that a career in the petrochemical industry would best suit him. He was employed with Dow Chemical in Texas City for the last 2 years, where he not only made a lasting impression, but made lasting friendships as well.Nick also had a love for volunteering. He learned from his grandmother at an early age the importance of serving others, and was always readily available to lend a hand to anyone in need. Nicholas made his transition to be with the Lord on January 24, 2016. He will be mostly remembered for his big smile, his gentle, giving spirit, how much he loved the Houston Texans, and the love that he had for his family and friends.Nicholas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Jewell Gary, Sr. and Dorothy Gary; his maternal grandfather; Joe W. Smith, Sr.; his aunt, Wilma Smith, uncle; Earl Yancy; and uncle, Alfred “Fats” Gary, Sr.He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Debra and Russell Gary, Sr.; his big brother, Russell Gary, Jr.; his grandmother, Theopia Smith; aunts, LaVerne Scales; Thelma Bowie; Jacqueline Yancy; Gloria Little; and Kathleen Rhodes, uncles; Joe W. Smith, Jr.; Jewel Gary, Jr. (Carrie); Eugene “Wayne” Gary (Ruthie); and Carlton Gary; his godmother, Dorcas Nellums Simmons; his second parents, Jim and Delia Molina; and a host of cousins, friends, and co-workers that will treasure his memory forever.
