

Our Rainbow in the Sky Ollie Brooks Davis, 80, of Texas City, Texas, went to live with the Lord on January 31, 2015. Born in Madisonville, Texas on November 5, 1934 to Love West and Laura Kate Brooks, Ollie is survived by her children, Celestine Burnett Metuassalol (Katy, TX), Jacqueline Burnett Teamer and her husband Ed (Missouri City, TX), Ernest Burnett and his wife LaSandra (Houston, TX); 2 sisters, Annie L Brooks and Velma Coleman; 2 brothers, John R Brooks (Jeanie) and Cecil (Eloise) Brooks; 8 grandchildren, Kamau Metuassalol, Kehinde Metuassalol, Erin Burnett, Jelani Teamer (Chanel), Jabari Teamer (Kathy), Asha Metuassalol (Michael), Chondra Hutchison (Russell) and Taylor Burnett (Brionn); 3 great-grandchildren, Madison Hutchison, Evan Amantine, and Melody Hutchison; sisters-in-law,Mary Brooks and Evelyn Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Known by many names: Baby Jack, Sissie, Jackie, Mama Ollie, and Sue, Ollie loved life. She loved her family, friends, and the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. Ollie moved with her family from Madisonville, to Galveston, and eventually to LaMarque when she was a teenager. She and her family are founding members of the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, and she remained faithful to it until her death. Ollie attended LaMarque High School, worked as a domestic for many years, and then in stores. She walked for miles to get back and forth to work in order to provide for her children. Many describe her as a true diva because she was always dressed up and ready to go. She especially loved going to the Nessler Center and being with her friends. Ollie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands (Lee Otis Burnett and Leon Davis), her sister Annie, her brothers, Lige and Robert; and brothers-in-law, Freddie Coleman and Frank Francis Sr. Ollie always painted her life in bold and broad strokes. She was a full force of nature with many colorful comments, sayings and humor. The memories of her are cherished and her favorite sayings are often repeated by family and friends. Her family is so grateful for the time with her. We honor her life and will see her again, as God has commanded it. The sun grew dim and the days were dark and then God put a rainbow in the sky .
