

Rev. George W. Singleton, Jr. is the Pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in West Texas City, where he has served for 27 years. Rev. Singleton was born in Galveston, Texas on February 17, 1941 to Rev. George, Sr., and Mrs. Loretta Singleton. He attended Galveston Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1959. He completed a three-year tour of duty in the United States Armed Services. Ordained in the Ministry in 1969, he returned to college to complete educational goals. A full time Pastor and community leader, Pastor Singleton has held many offices in the Local, State and National levels, some of which include: Moderator of Lincoln Southern District Association; 3rd Vice President of the B.M.&E. State Convention; President of Mainland United Task Force; President of Mainland Baptist Ministers Association; Member of Evangelistic Baptist Board Galveston Association. Because of his dedicated leadership in the church and community, Pastor Singleton has received many recognitions and awards. On Friday, February 17, 2012, his 71st birthday, Pastor Singleton heard the voice of Jesus say, "Come unto me and rest" and he bid this world adieu and entered his eternal rest. Left to celebrate his victory in Jesus are his devoted fiancé and companion, Ann M. Caldwell; his children, Taronda Singleton, Flynn P. Singleton, George W. Singleton, III; special people whom he loved as his children, Chester Beverly, IV (deceased), Kodi Freeman (Ron) and Jeff Beverly; 8 grandchildren, his beloved sisters and brother: Georgia M. Singleton Kelly, Mary Singleton Hicks (John), Sarah Singleton Alexander, Emma Singleton Cooper, Avis L. Singleton Reynolds, Pastor Charlie M. Singleton (Shelia) and Stella Singleton Rayon; a "Special" niece whom he loved as a daughter, Stormy Hall; many loving nieces, nephews, other family members, his Fellowship Church Family; his Lincoln Southern District Family; and many friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM today, Thursday, February 23rd at Fellowship Baptist Church, 312 Rose St. in Texas City. Public Viewing and Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 24th at Fellowship Baptist Church. The Home Going Celebration will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Greater Barbour's Chapel Baptist Church, 7420 FM 1765 in Texas City, Pastor Andrew W. Berry, II, host pastor, Pastor B. R.
