Rev. Edgar Dickey Jr.

Edgar's life journey began on February 8, 1947 in Walker County, Huntsville, Texas. He was born the oldest of five children to the union of Edgar Dickey, Sr. and Ruby Stewart Dickey. Growing up in Huntsville, Texas, Edgar joined church and accepted Christ at an early age. He and his family later moved to La Marque, Texas where he attended the public schools of La Marque Independent School District and graduated from La Marque High School in 1966. After school, he joined and served in the United States Navy. He was released with an honorable discharge in the early 1970's. Edgar was united in holy matrimony to Joyce Fisher-Walker in 1997. He later united with his wife at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Travis Durst, Sr. Edgar served as an usher, Brothers-in-Unity and sang gloriously in the mass choir. He also served on the Board of Trustees for Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. In 2007, Edgar accepted his calling into the ministry to preach the gospel. While still a member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, Edgar attended Church of True Faith under the leadership of Pastor James Hampton. Edgar was a boilermaker by trade, but he especially loved cooking and was well known for his barbeque and holiday dinners. He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Dickey, Sr.; daughter, Rebecca Guyton-Keal; sister, Joyce Young; brother, Charles "Cheetah" Dickey; grandparents, Bryant and Aree Stewart, and Sidney and Allie Dickey; aunts, Marie Ellen, Eleanor Linscomb, Thessalonia West, Thelma Jackson and Augusta Issac; uncles, Robert "Buckwheat" Stewart, George Ray Stewart, Marion Dickey, R.H. Dickey, Sidney "Bubba" Stewart, Bobby Joe Stewart and Robert Earl Stewart. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Joyce Dickey; daughter, Des'Unique Dickey of Texas City, TX; sons, Edmond (Nikki) Dickey and Robert Walker, II, all of Texas City, TX; his mother, Ruby Dickey Cook of La Marque, TX; his brothers, Earnest (Rocshell) Dickey of Friendswood, TX and Forrest (Juanita) Dickey of Houston, TX; five aunts, Reade Jackson and Sewella Porter of Houston, TX, Mary Jacobs of Nacogdoches, TX, Ruby Stewart of Bay City, TX and Janell Lacy of Texas City, TX; three uncles, Lawrence, Marvin and Mike Bookman all of Texas City, TX; sisters-n-laws, Nancie (Roy) Dixon and Diane Jones; brother-n-laws, Kenneth Fisher and Darryl Fisher; nine grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
