

A visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:55 AM at Mainland Funeral Home, 2711 Texas Ave, LaMarque, TX 77568, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Shirley Jeanette D'avante Cooper was "Shirl Jean" to her brothers, "Momma" to her sons, and "Shirley" to
others, passed away on june 2nd 2022
Shirley was Born in Beaumont, Texas to Chauncy Mae Richards of Brenham, Texas, on July 15 1946.
Attending Dickinson High School, then furthering her education to Texas Southern University She met and married Warren G. H. Moody Jr. bringing forth two sons, Brian and Desmond.
After two more colleges, and two more degrees Shirley worked as a nurse, and pharmacist in the
Houston and Dallas areas until retirement.
Shirley loved spending her time with family, church, and her famous sorority sisters, Delta Sigma Theta. With a contagious smile she had a story for all in every area of her life with her strongest tie being God and greatest joy her grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Chauncy Mae Richards, and three brothers Edgar Lee Kirk, James (JT) Cooper, and Reginald A. Cooper all from Dickinson, Texas.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Brian H. Moody Sr. (Tiffany) of Dallas, Texas and Desmond G. Moody of Houston, Texas. Two step-sons Warren L. Moody (Jaritza) and Brandon D. Moody
(Jetavia) of Houston Texas
Five grandchildren, Brian H. Moody Jr., Caleb Josiah Moody, Cristion Jacob Moody, Camren Jeremiah Moody, and Najallah Saffiyah Muhammad; two Great-Granddaughters Genesis Moody and Giselle Moody; two nieces Tiffany Cooper and Latoya Cooper-James (Pete) and a host of extended family and friends.
