Shirley Jenkins

On August 21, 1939 in Jeanerette, Louisiana, a beautiful baby girl was born to Robert Allen and Gladys Ollya Allen. They named their blessing Shirley.   Shirley was educated in the public schools of Galveston, Texas and she was a graduate of Central High School. At an early age, she united with Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church in Hitchcock with her family under the leadership of the late Pastor T. H. Giles, Sr. She served on the Usher Board for many years.   Shirley was employed at UTMB Hospital in Galveston for many years as a Lab Tech in the Cardiology Department. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.   On August 26, 2016, with her loved ones by her side, Shirley Jenkins answered the call of her Heavenly Father. Awaiting her heavenly arrival were her parents, Robert and Gladys Allen; her daughter, Michelle Flowers and sister, Judy Allen.   Left to cherish memories of her life are her devoted husband of 43 years, Paul Jenkins; her son, Christopher Allen Sr. and wife, Geraldine Allen; step-son, Dewayne Jenkins and wife, Kim Jenkins; step-daughter, Paula Michelle Richardson; two beloved sisters, Rose Miller and Jessica Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
