

William H. Sinches, 69, of Texas City, Texas was called home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2012. William Sinches was born February 11, 1943 to Pinkie Cole. He was the youngest of five children. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. He was involved in many activities as a young man. He was a 1962 graduate of San Angelo Central High School in San Angelo, Texas. William played football, basketball and baseball during his high school years. After serving in the United States Army for three years, he enrolled at Howard County Junior College. After enrolling at HCJC, he was named All Western Junior College Conference Team in 1967. He was MVP at the Tesamingo Tournament in Oklahoma in 1967 and he was also awarded the American Legion Award at Howard County in 1967. They won the Lone Star Conference in 1969 with a record of 26-3. While working on his Master's at Angelo State University, he met the love of his life and best friend, Oma Reeves. Bill and Oma married on June 17, 1971 in San Angelo, Texas. Bill was employed for two years at Central High School as a teacher and assistant coach. While teaching at Central, he was known for his reliability, leadership, honesty and friendliness. He was soon hired at La Marque High School in 1979. He was a teacher and head basketball coach from 1980-2002. He had many players who received scholarships from Lamar University, Fordham, Baylor, Mid-Western, Brooklyn College and Texas A&I University. His hobbies included watching sports, going to Sunday church, reading about Martin Luther King, reading his favorite parts of the Bible, and eating with his friends. The family will miss his leadership and his business-like approach to all family functions. His generous nature and love for his family will be remembered by everyone. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Pinkie Cole; his sisters, Ernestine Cole and Maxine Banks, as well as his brother, Alfred Hollins. He is survived by the love of his life of 41 years, Oma Sinches - Texas City; his daughter, Catina Sinches - Houston, Texas; his granddaughter, Dierra Sinches - Houston, Texas; his nephew, Albert Brown - Atlanta, Georgia; his sister, Lillie Mae James - San Angelo, Texas; his nephew, Ivan Cole - Lubbock, Texas; his niece, Kaye Cole - San Jose, California; his nephew, Charles Cole - San Jose, California; his niece, Linda Blount - San Antonio, Texas; his brother-in-law, James Blount - San Antonio, Texas; his niece, Joyce Sue Harmon, San Angelo, Texas; his mother-in-law, Nelline Reeves - Brady, Texas; his brother-in-law, Charles Reeves - Houston, Texas; his brother-in-law, Alfred Reeves - Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
