

Barbara June Palumbo, 77 of Lancaster passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Barbara was born on June 15, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late George and LaVerne (Worgull) Kmetz. After high school, Barbara worked for the May Company until 1978, where her diligence and warm, friendly nature shined. She worked her way up from Floor Salesperson to Floor Manager to Store Buyer. After that she spent many years as a homemaker, devoted to raising her three children. Later, Barbara worked for Lunn Fabrics for 20 years, where she returned to her passion of sewing and started quilting.
In her early years, she was a gifted singer in the Hope Congregational Church Choir and the North Mentor Centenary United Methodist Church Choir, and she was a founding member of the Lakeland Civic Chorus. She was a talented seamstress and painter. She had a customer following for her tole painted crafts, which she sold in craft shows. In recent years, she enjoyed sewing, workouts, yoga, and other adventures with a close circle of friends she met at Advanced Training Fitness and Yoga. She was a role model and counselor to friends and family. She had a good sense of humor, and was a positive, good-natured person who put others before herself.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Conrad Palumbo; children, Andrew Palumbo, Michael Palumbo and Amanda Palumbo; sisters, Georgia (Richard Sr.) Wharton and Peggy Noble; as well as many other loving family members and friends; numerous quilts, crafts, and well-fed backyard birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, George Anthony Kmetz Jr.

A memorial service and celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11AM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held ONE HOUR PRIOR to the services on Thursday.
