She was born on June 1, 1940 to Reta and Maxel Simon in Junior, West Virginia.
A former church music director and music teacher, B.J. Hoff was a best-selling Christian author who was known for her historical fiction. Her faith and sense of humor brought joy to everyone she knew. She had a great passion for all things Irish. She loved music, books and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of almost 55 years, Jim Hoff; two daughters, Dana Hoff and Jessie (Eric) Pingle; three grandsons, Noah (Kassie Phelps) Davis, Gunnar Pingle and Caleb (Molly Price) Pingle; a great-grandson, Jameson Bryan Davis; and her closest friend Cheryl Kauffman.
She was beloved by many and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, 436 North Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 1, where friends will be received from 10am until the time of service. The funeral service will be performed by Pastor Brad Seevers.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in B.J. Hoff's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
