Curtis Akers was a commercial truck driver for PEI Ohio, Inc. since December of 2019. He tragically died in a vehicle accident on Tuesday, April 27 in downtown Columbus, Ohio. With 30 years of trucking experience, Curtis worked for Strawser Equipment and Leasing and Power Trucking, before most recently driving a dump truck for DBM Materials, LLC.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Akers; parents, Bud and Cheryle Akers; step daughters, Stephanie (Omar) Harris and Cassie (Josh) Richardson; grandchildren, Jayvon, Carde, Cora, Kaiden, and Bowen; sister, Tammy Akers; brother Bud J. Akers IV; grandmother, Tessie “Mammy” Akers; grandmother, Gladys Louise Boyer; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edgar Donald Jones and Bud Akers Jr.; aunt, Doris “Sissy” Akers; uncle, Richard Curtis Akers; and mother-in-law, Alice May Rager.
The family would like to thank DBM Materials and Igel for their loving support during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Curtis’ Life will be held on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at 2PM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME, officiated by Pastor Paul Wymer. Friends and family may visit from 12PM until the time of the service on Saturday. Dignity Cremation is to take place through the funeral home.
