Dave was one of the best DBA I have ever worked with. He was very passionate with his work to the extent that we still work together even I'm in Manila day shift and him in US day shift. He doesn't mind staying late - he was very helpful and very knowledgeable on his craft. Even I'm in different role now, I still saw emails from Dave being active in resolving issues.

You will be missed Dave, thanks for the memories.

Dave will always remember the time at Winter Jam..you know with that guy there. Remembering the laughs and the smile you always seemed to have. I am sure Jesus and you are having a blast!

David was a good friend and a great resource.
Any time (Even when he was not on shift) he would offer advice.
He is one of the best DBA's I have worked with.
I will miss him personally, and all of the teams at his work will miss him immensely.

Thank you David for all that you did for me!
I will miss our conversations.

I have worked with David for 5 years at Chase. Today, I just learned of his passing and stunned along with a very large group of others here at Chase. I suspect David would comment now and then how important he was at Chase, if he didn't, he was. David was the GO TO DBA for all of us IT folks as it related to SQL Server. I would only request for David and would not accept anyone else. He never backed down from a challenge and worked on the issues until the were resolved. He worked on tasks that were not assigned to him. Him and I were working on future solutions together to better systems. Old saying is that anyone can be replaced in the workforce. David was the exception to this rule; No one could or will ever replace David Speer. My prayers go out to the family and his friends. He will be greatly missed.

David was a great friend! He helped me beyond my understanding - we worked video projects together for many years. There was no video or computer issue that he couldn't figure out - he was an excellent cameraman, a superb video producer, and a faith-inspiring friend. He was always kind and supportive of the students that worked with us. When I made technical or leadership mistakes, Dave was gentle and patient in redirecting me in the right direction. So sorry to see him leave, but I rest easy knowing that he knows his creator on a first name basis. Thanks Dave - see you soon! Hopefully near the Skillet stage :)

I was David's friend. We went through College together and both worked at the Bank together for a number of years. Dave and I would go out to lunch with each other for many of those years. We had many things in common including our firm belief if the Lord Jesus Christ. While I am very sad to hear of his passing, I know without any doubt that one day we will see one another again in our heavenly home with Jesus.
I am sincerely sorry for his loss, especially the loss to his family.
May God richly bless all of his family during this time of grief.
