Denice Jamesetta Hogan
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend
November 25, 1958 – October 23, 2026
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” — Proverbs 31:28
Denice Jamesetta Hogan, age 67, of Lancaster, Ohio, peacefully departed this earthly life on October 23, 2026, at Adena Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, her life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, kindness, and the everlasting love of Jesus Christ. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Born in Los Angeles, California, to Hubert Udell Hogan and Gloria Margaret Hogan, Denice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Her faith remained an important part of her life, providing a foundation of hope, love, and spiritual strength. She carried that love into her relationships with family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Denice was a woman whose presence could brighten any room. She was known for her cheerful smile, warm heart, inviting personality, and nurturing spirit. Her love was genuine, her laughter was contagious, and her kindness made people feel welcomed and cared for. She had a special way of making others feel like family, offering the kind of motherly love and encouragement that left a lasting impression on countless hearts.
Throughout her working years, Denice served as a custodian at Arrowhead Memorial Hospital, faithfully contributing her time and efforts in service to others. Yet, beyond her career and daily responsibilities, her greatest joy was found in the people she loved most: her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Time spent with her family was her greatest treasure, and every moment together brought her unspeakable happiness.
After relocating from San Bernardino, California, to Lancaster, Ohio, Denice embraced the opportunity to be closer to her only son, her granddaughter, and her great-granddaughter. She became a faithful member of Fairfield Christian Church, continuing to nurture her relationship with the Lord while building treasured memories with her growing family. Lancaster became more than a place to call home; it became the setting for a beautiful chapter filled with family gatherings, everyday adventures, and countless moments of love.
Those who knew Denice understood that she never needed a special occasion to show someone they mattered. She was famous for remembering birthdays and making sure she was among the very first to call and wish someone a happy birthday. If birthday greetings had been a competition, Denice would have been the undisputed champion! Her daily phone calls and messages were another expression of her loving heart. Whether sharing pictures of a wonderful day with her grandchildren or reporting on the latest visitors to her backyard, she made sure her loved ones were included in the little joys that made life special.
One of Denice’s simple pleasures was watching families of deer peacefully graze in her backyard on cool mornings and late afternoons. These quiet encounters with nature brought her genuine excitement, and she delighted in sharing her wildlife adventures with family and friends. Through her pictures, phone calls, and enthusiastic stories, even the smallest moments became opportunities to connect with those she loved.
Denice also had a deep appreciation for music and entertainment. She adored watching and collecting movies, dancing, listening to Gospel music, and enjoying the timeless sounds of her favorite artists, including The Jackson 5, Luther Vandross, and Aretha Franklin, playing through her beloved record player. Music brought joy to her days, and her love for Gospel music reflected the faith that remained close to her heart.
And, of course, there was her beloved Dallas Cowboys! Denice was an avid Cowboys superfan who proudly dressed from head to toe in matching Cowboys gear on game day. Her enthusiasm was unmistakable, her team spirit unwavering, and her familiar rallying cry could always be heard: “Go Cowboys!” This was one of the many delightful things that made Denice uniquely and wonderfully herself.
Above all, Denice loved deeply. She loved Jesus. She loved her family. She loved her friends. She loved celebrating birthdays, sharing pictures, listening to music, watching deer in her backyard, and making ordinary days extraordinary simply by being present. Her life reminds us that love is often found in the little things: a phone call, a shared laugh, a birthday wish, a photograph, or the comfort of knowing someone is always thinking of you.
Though our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in the faith she embraced and the love she gave so freely. We hold fast to the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and trust that the Lord, in His infinite mercy, has welcomed His faithful child into His heavenly presence. While we will miss her beautiful smile, her daily calls, her joyful stories, and the warmth of her embrace, the love she planted in our hearts will continue to grow for generations to come.
Denice’s earthly journey has ended, but her legacy of faith, devotion, laughter, and unconditional love will never fade. She will forever remain a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Rest in heavenly peace, Denice. Your work here is done, your love lives on, and your family will carry your memory in their hearts until the day we meet again.
Well done, good and faithful servant. — Matthew 25:23
