Don grew up in Lancaster, Ohio. He and his father shared a love of baseball, sports, hunting and fishing. His loving mother supported him in all of his endeavors.
He graduated from Ohio University and was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. Don was a star baseball pitcher for Anchor Hocking, the Ohio University Bobcats, U.S. Army, Erie Sailors, and played in the Minor Leagues for the Washington Senators.
After graduating from the OSU College of Dentistry, Don practiced Dentistry in Groveport, Ohio until his retirement in 1991.
He is survived by daughter, Susan (Thomas) Rice and his sons, Mark (Tanya) Poling and Christopher Poling. He especially loved his six grandchildren and special friend, Audrey Faigley.
A Livestream Service will be held on Saturday, March 6th, 2021 at 12PM on the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME’S FACEBOOK PAGE. Burial with Military Honors is to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to: Mount Carmel Hospice (1144 Dublin Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43215) or to the American Macular Degeneration Association (5969 Cattleridge Boulevard, Suite #100 Sarasota, FL 34232) in Don’s memory.
