It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the peaceful passing of Dorothy J. Rosier, 92, of Lancaster on Thursday, January 14, 2021. The return to her heavenly home occurred at The Pickering House after a brief stay at Fairfield Medical Center, from pancreatic cancer.
Dorothy was born July 31, 1928 to the late Frank and Irene Christian in central Ohio. She met her one and only love, Walter “Pete” Rosier, in a cow barn that was jointly shared by our Grandpa, Bruce Rosier and Grandma and Grandpa Christian. Mom and dad were soon married on October 20, 1946 and had 20 wonderful years together. Dorothy loved to sew and was an expert with a crochet hook — finding delight in creating baby outfits and blankets for friends and family. She loved to solve crosswords and other puzzles and was an avid reader. Dorothy was a homemaker, but while employed outside the home for a number of years, her passion was taking care of her family and she was always ready to help anyone whenever and wherever needed. She began volunteer work at Fairfield Medical Center on June 25, 1980, completing 40 years of service and accumulating 16,785 hours before the pandemic sidelined the volunteers. Dorothy was a beautiful woman with an infectious laugh and she served patients, visitors, staff and the community. She also volunteered simultaneously at the American Red Cross, the Arthritis Foundation in Fairfield County and at Fairfield Christian Church, where she had been a long-time member. Shopping outings with the “Rosier Girls” were among her favorite activities. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her son, Larry (Nanci) Rosier and daughter, Cyndi Rosier Daines; she loved to dote on her grandchildren, Christina (Jeremy) Mason and Bruce (Crescent) Rosier; great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Rosier, who kept a sparkle in Gigi’s (great-grandma) eyes the past 14 years; siblings, Katherine Campbell, Donna Waits and Warren (Ellen) Christian; special cousin, Peggy Moreland; many cherished nieces and nephews; her fellow volunteers, friends from Fairfield Medical Center and fellow parishioners of Fairfield Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter “Pete” Rosier; son-in-law, Bob Daines; and brother, Noel Christian, who died during WWII serving his country.
A private graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster has been arranged by Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Mark Barbee, Fairfield Christian Church, officiating. Due to COVID-19 concerns, a Celebration of Life for Dorothy will take place at a later date and will be announced via the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette and on Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home website. Friends and family may send online condolences at www.haltemanfettdyer.com.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Fairfield Medical Center, The Pickering House, A.J. at Halteman Fett & Dyer Funeral Home and friends and pastors of Fairfield Christian Church for their care, compassion and prayers.
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ — Matthew 25:23 (NKJV)
