

Edward Ray Figgins, born in Lancaster, Ohio on March 1, 1944, age 81, passed away on January 3, 2026, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janice Morehead Figgins. He is also survived by his 2 children, Heidi Figgins Tootle and Douglas (Devon) Figgins, grandchildren, Jamie McGill, Austin Tootle, and soon to be grandchild, Baby Girl Figgins in May 2026. He is also survived by sister-in-law Kathy (Dick) Daubmire, and brother-in-law David (Karen) Morehead, plus many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Alice Figgins, brother Don (Jean and Diana) Figgins, brother, Dick (Myrna) Figgins, and granddaughter Angela Sue McGill.
Ed was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was an alumni of Ohio State University, then was employed by Lancaster Mold as a mold maker for many years followed by employment with Crown Cork & Seal, Carnaud Metalbox, and AHP, as a mechanical design engineer. He loved his sports cars and never stopped talking about the cars he had built or modified, including his custom Chevy Vega panel truck with IMSA body, which was featured on the cover of Popular Hot Rodding Magazine in May 1979. He also custom painted many vans and motorcycles. Over the years he enjoyed following his children and grandchildren’s games and activities, traveling with his wife Janice to most of the states and spending time in Florida in the winter. Ed loved entertaining his friends, family, children, servers, and bartenders with his magic tricks and Dad jokes.
Calling Hours will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME (436 N. Broad St. Lancaster) from 10AM-12PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 12PM, with Judy Hug, Minister, officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Ed may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter (1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215) or to Fairfield Center for Independence (681 E Sixth Ave, Lancaster, OH 43130).
