I worked with Gary for years, he taught me the most important parts of the job. He was dedicated, thoughtful and passionate about being a police officer. He seemed to know everyone in Lancaster, and my go to guy if I ever needed anything. Truly the best of us, he is missed. Thoughts and prayers to Jennifer and Elliot. RIP brother !

Marissa and I enjoyed all the dinners we shared. Loved the hours of conversations we had until the restaurants were getting ready to close. You were the only one that got Marissa to try new foods . Thank you for the joy and laughter you brought us. . You will be missed.

I just heard of Gary’s passing and am saddened at the news. He was a great guy, had a ready smile, and loved to laugh. It was just a chance meeting 24 years ago that I, along with a close friend and workmate, happened to stop in at the Lancaster PD while travelling through the US from Australia. We were only hoping to swap a police patch, but ended up creating a long friendship with Gary, Jennifer, and Elliott. Gary will be missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to Jennifer and Elliott, along with all his family.

My earliest memory of Gary was of this guy my brothers referred to simply as "Boggs." He was always kind and considerate to this little sister of men he considered his friends.
My most treasured memory of Gary is the day he brought a bouquet of roses to my Mom after our Dad passed away. There was a knock on the front door and there he stood with that charming smile and compassion in his eyes. It brightened her spirits more than he ever knew. I thought of that encounter the last time I had the pleasure of talking with Gary when he and Jennifer came to Mom's visitation hours a few years ago. He will be greatly missed.
All of you are in my prayers.

My sincerest condolences to Gary's family, in particular classmate and friend Arlene. My memory of Gary was as a police officer. A group of us as kids were playing in the street. We heard a police siren, then the officer's voice. I was a little shaken. The officer got out and walked over to my oldest brother and started laughing. They were classmates and friends in high school! He was dedicated but always had a genuine friendly smile.
May the many memories of Gary help to comfort you and God's peace sustain you during this difficult time.

This is such a hurtful day for me . I have known Gary for many years as thru the law enforcement family, as a neighbor. Gary to us was family. Gary will be sadly missed.

The Boggs family sincerely appreciates the outpouring of support received from Gary's friends and acquaintances at this heartbreaking time.

Gary donated his corneas to Lifeline of Ohio as a gift of sight, yet another gesture of his generosity and his caring nature.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to Lifeline of Ohio, or to Fairhope Hospice & Palliative Care (Pickering House in Lancaster), or to a charity of your choice.

With Gratitude,
Jennifer Boggs

Gary, I got to meet you when you worked with Mike at LPD. Then I was fortunate that you started working at McBride water the time you recovered my lost necklace in the building foyer and saved it for the owner- me. You're just an all around nice guy and I'd noticed your absence at McBride's lately on my recent trips to get water. I'll miss your laughter and seeing your friendly face there. RIP!
