

Gary Eugene Young, of Lancaster, Ohio, born May 6, 1943, passed away March 27, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Burnett and Eunice Young. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dottie Jo Young (Phipps); children, Andy (Jill) Young and Jeff (Susan) Young; 4 grandchildren Abby (Levi) Simmons, Conner Young, Casey Young, Jack Young, and sister Sharon (Rod) Riddle. He was preceded in death by his brother Burnurd Young, and sister Sue Imler. Gary served in the Army Reserves for 5 years, and was a renowned problem solver and fixer. First, as a Machine Repairman at Altens Foundry & Machine Works for 20 years, while simultaneously fixing and flipping 11 homes during that period. In 1985, Gary started Young’s Collision Center in Lancaster, faithfully fixing cars until his retirement in 2005. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching and attending Nascar events, camping in the mountains and cheering on his beloved Buckeyes. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at HALTEMAN FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME, with burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the funeral home. Following the burial, there will be a gathering to share a meal and memories at Outerbelt Brewing, 3560 Dolson Ct., Carroll. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital for their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
